My Recommend a Friend Story

Recommend a friend was easy all I had to do was share a link once from my confirmation email and once the first person brought a policy – my housemate it just snowballed from there as I thought this was an easy way to help pay for my policy.I have not only pay for my insurance policy each year – but have earn some extra money as well.

This is how I did it –
I had booked my first insurance policy over the phone and mentioned to the operator that I was in a shared house and could we get a discount. He mentions that there was a recommend a friend promotion where if I recommend someone from a link in the confirmation email that I would get £5 if they purchased, and my house mate would save £5 off their policy and there was no limit to the number of people you could recommend. Anyway, I checked the confirmation email roughly about halfway down there is a section under the 14-day cooling off period which shows “Recommend A Friend”.

So, I clicked on the envelope and shared the link via email. It was easy to do as it pre-populated everything including the email subject line all I had to do was insert the email address.

Once my housemate brought the policy, I got a confirmation email to let me know that a friend had brought a policy and that I would receive my £5 reward after 30 days and low and behold roughly 30 days later my first cheque payment of £5 came through:

Great news! One of your friends has purchased an insurance policy with us. Once they have held the policy with us for 30 days you will qualify for a £5 reward. This reward will be issued via cheque to the correspondence address we have on file for you.

I then reshared the links to Facebook and Twitter as I had them accounts and didn’t really want to just email all my contacts and I didn’t have a LinkedIn or Google+ account.

Again, I just click on the link, and it did the work for me.

Each time someone brought a policy I would get an email telling me someone had brought a policy. I would then just share the link again from the email and as time went on, I started to get smarter and add in hash tags such as:

to hit more people.

I even found people were sharing my posts with there friends which all helped.

I started to get that many refer a friend confirmation that Cover4Insurance contacted me to ask me how I did it and they agreed to pay the money straight into my bank account, so I don’t even need to cash the cheques anymore.

I now have 400+ referrals and counting why not give it a try my days at university are now over but have noticed that they do a similar product for tenant’s contents insurance – here we go again
