King Charles’ Coronation – Street Parties

King Charles’s Coronation will take place on 6th May 2023 and an additional Bank Holiday has been granted on Monday 8th May. Many people will be looking to hold a street party to celebrate this event so here’s a few points to guide you along the way.

In advance

Apply to the council for road closure a couple of months in advance

Try to involve as many people as possible, giving out jobs to everyone rather than having just one organiser

Plan activities for all ages and tastes

Ensure road signs, tables, chairs, food etc are organised in advance

Take out street party insurance:

Week before

Send out reminder to all residents including asking for cars to be moved if needed

If required display the legal order for road closure

On the day

Set up road closure barriers and put up bunting etc

Keep an eye on road closure in case someone wants to come in or out

Ensure the road is cleaned up and opened to traffic once the party is over
