Why Purchase Bicycle Insurance?

As cycling is on the rise, it is common now for people to invest in expensive bicycles to get the maximum benefits of cycling. All the enhanced gear, clothing and additional extras like specific tyres and brakes can all increase the pedal cycle’s value. Some cycles can cost up to £3,000 to replace.

Imagine making a short trip on your bicycle each day to work or university, the bike is locked in a secure compound and there are cameras protecting it. However thieves can appear even when you are riding the bike. If it looks like a valuable piece of equipment, pushing you off and stealing it is not a hard task. People overlook the need for pedal cycle insurance, but if the bicycle is stolen imagine a £3,000 lump sum hit on replacing it; A horrible ordeal for any individual.

Reasons why our bicycle insurance is beneficial:

  • Covers your bike against theft, accidental loss or damage up to £3,000 including accessories up to £150. 
  • Public liability the policy holder will be covered up to £1,000,000, for amounts which they become legally liable to pay (including costs & expenses incurred) to a third party in the event of an accident, giving rise to claim caused by their use of the pedal cycle for:
    • bodily injury by accident, or 
    • damage to property.
  • The policy holder will also be automatically covered for up to 45 days in European at no additional cost.
  • Even if the policy holder is liable for the accident, accidental damage covers for the repair of the pedal cycle are included.
  • Replacement hire cover is included to cover the cost of hiring an alternative pedal cycle whilst you await the repair or replacement of your bicycle.  We will pay £70 per week up to £420 under this section.

Now it becomes clear of the benefits of bicycle insurance, and the individual can now see all the implications that can arise from a pedal cycle accident.
